***UPDATE***
We had a great time our trip. Aimee learned how to ride her Razor scooter (a big feat for her!). Was nice seeing all the family. Only down fall.....mosquitoes on steroids! Never have I seen so many mosquitoes swarm the car or the doors getting in and out of the trailer or anywhere. We went through 1 citronella candle and almost 4 bottles of bug spray and these suckers (haha) were immune to anything we tried to put on them! None the less a great trip. Now down to business - here is how we did on budget:
Gas expense: $180.00
Food: $76.00
Camp Fee: $30
Souvenires and parking fees: $27
Emergency bug spray: $38
TOTAL SPENT: $351. We have $149 to apply to our next camping trips!
Like many this time of year, families are choosing to go out of town on vacation. And, like many, finances are particularly tight these days. Every year, we leave for 5 days to visit my hubby's family. This year, we are planning on visiting the Diamond Lake/Crater Lake area.
Since my hubby is just finishing up EMT schooling and because I got "laid" off from my job a few months back, money is really tight. You have seen my previous posts about my coupon trips to the grocery store to stock up for camping, so here is the test. With food in tow, trailer packed and ready to head out, we will be taking only $600 with us. Keep in mind that where we are going it is a day drive in the car w/ trailer. We will have to pay camp fees and with the crazy gas prices....need I say more?
I will keep track off all expenses and share how well we did and what money (if any) is still in use, I might even post a family picture or two!
And yes, in case you are wondering, my coupon binder is going too - just in case! :-)
