Easy Chocolate Gummy Bear Recipe

My husband asked me not long ago, what I wanted for my birthday. I told him, Chocolate Gummy Bears as those are my favorite candy and they are expensive to buy ($8.99 a pound) - so that makes a great gift right?  Being that he is a good "frugal" student, he was determined to save money and make his own batch.

At Walmart he bought:

3 lb. bag of gummy bears for $6.48

5 packages of Chocolate Candy Melts for $2.50 ea

He then researched online (I don't know where - this was his project - lol) and found that to do this, he would have to stick toothpicks up each gummies "butts", then dip them in chocolate and then you can let them harden by sticking the toothpick in a syrofoam sheet.  Melting is easy - just use your double boiler if you have one.  This particular chocolate also has microwave melting instructions.

The end product:   About $6/lb + a labor of love = a Happy Wife! ;-)
