Many Ways to Save at Safeway

So today, I ventured out with my Sis in Law and my 9 mo old nephew to Safeway.  We have been trying to get together forever for a "girls day" and she is new to couponing and so we planned our trips and headed out.  An hour and an half later we were done.  She saved 55% off her bill and I saved 59% off mine.  I think we ROCKED the store.  No, it was not Extreme Couponing, but for small town mommies, anything above 50% is great (our stores don't double every coupon - only up to 4 coupons at 50 cents each - so only up to $2 per shopping trip).

I did manage to get quite a few FREE items on my trip and thanks to different ways to save, I was able to save more than half on my food bill.

1.  Store Card - Automatically gives sales prices to card members; a must have!

2.  E Coupons - Loaded coupons directly to my Store Card; I go to my store's website to do this and as some coupons via their site are better than others out there.  I also use www.shortcuts.com which is another way to load E Coupons to my store card. Unfortunately, and I am not the first one, to experience the E coupons coming off at time of transaction at the store.  Today, some of mine did not come off and I did not notice until already out in the car.

3.  Paper Coupons - Found in Sunday Newspapers, Magazines (my fave is All You), peelies (coupons found on packaging),  tear pads (coupons attached to shelving near products), Catalinas (those coupons that print out with your receipt at the store that you can use at a later time) & Company promos (get on a companies mailing list (like Tums or Cottonelle and they will send you high value coupons or even coupons to try a product for FREE) to name a few...

4.  In Store Sources - A.  Store flier that has In Store Coupons (that can be uses with the current sale and any coupons you have - called STACKING) B. Produce or Pharmacy Promos - my store has a display of Simple Nutrition  flyers and inside is a $1 off any purchase of $5 or more of produce.

So with all sources at hand, here is a break down of how the magic happened.
