Surgery = No Time for Coupons

So my little sweetie pie, 7 year old daughter, went in on Thursday for double eye surgery for her Strabismus.  Being that the facility where the procedure needed to be done at was over an hour away, we had to pack up and leave town for a couple nights.

I did my homework, printed out coupons for local restraunts and even mapped their locations. I even got rolled eyes from my hubby when I did this, but hey, I was organized! I also got a huge envelope from my coupon train buddy earlier in the day so thought I would pack those along so that I would have something to do while my daughter was in surgery or while she was recovering.  This envelope was so HUGE that I knew it would take a while to sort it out as she had also sent expired coupons for me to send of to Coups for Troops (see ad on my page).

The night before surgery, we checked into our hotel.  Did not get anything done! Had to check out the hotel swimming pool and hot tub of course.  Then my daughter had to pig out as she couldn't have anything to eat after midnight and she has a new found tapeworm inside her belly that makes her think she needs to eat everything in site - so coupons in tow we hit the neighboring McDonald's and Safeway for some snacks.

Before Surgery

Day of surgery - Again, did not get any couponing done. I was a nervous wreck and cried as they wheeled her away.  After she left, the family made the decision that we should find something to eat so we just walked down to the hospital cafeteria.  I got razzed that I did not have a coupon to eat there.  By the time we got back up to my daughters room, we were not there more than 5 minutes when the doc walked in saying surgery went well and that she is in recovery.  So phone calls had to be made to out of town family while we wait for her to be wheeled back in.  Then once she was back in, I was the hovering mother and coupons were the last thing on my mind.

Later in the day, we were back at the hotel and in town relatives came in to see Aimee and were marvelled by the amount of food she was eating (and keeping down) so soon after surgery.  Before we all new it, it was bedtime and we were all crashed.

And now, as I sit 4 days later, my pile is still there, more organized than before but no where near where it should be.  Between medicine doses 4 times a day and her regular regiment of medicine for her ADHD and Panic Disorder I have begun to wonder if I will ever get caught up!  I do have my coupons sorted in envelopes by what is continuing on the coupon train, what is going to Coups for Troops and everything else is finally sorted in my binder.  All that is left is clipping the few inserts I picked up today.  I guess there is still hope to get it done by tomorrow so I can plan my shopping trip.  Just another day in the life of a mother with a special needs, yet finally straight eyed girl!
Beautiful Straight Eyed Girl!
I will tackle this mountain!
